  • State Fair of Virginia is illuminated by a Ferris wheel, thrill rides and lights from food vendors at The Meadow Event Park in Doswell, VA., on the first day of the state fair. The state fair, which was inaugurated in 1854, has been attracted between 200,000 and 250,000 attendances in recent years. The state fair offers various entertainments, including a pig racing, a circus, a rodeo, carnival games, music concerts and rides for all ages and it also has been called Virginia's largest outdoor classroom for its educational field trip program for students. As you walk around the fair, it is hard to miss fair foods, such as funnel cakes, cotton candy, kettle corn, BBQ and even craft beer. {quote}I like pretty much everything,{quote} Elisabet “Lissi” Dalton, 6, of Goochland, said about the fair after getting one of kids' rides with her younger sisters.
  • James River Railway Bridge, also known as the CSX A-line bridge, is one of picturesque places in Richmond over the James River and its images are often used for posters, postcards, T-shirts, and so on to illustrate the beatify of the river. The bridge, which designed by John E. Greiner and built in 1919 for the Richmond, Fredericksburg and Potomac Railroad, is now part of CSX lines and located between the Powhite Parkway, shown in this drone photo on the background, and the Boulevard Bridge(The Nickel Bridge). Sunset over this arched bridge on James River is one of magnificent views that Richmonders are fortunate to have.
  • Hannah Molnar of Alvis Farms walks with farm cow Memphis in front of sunflowers as she and others get ready for Sunflower Festival in Manakin-Sabot, Va. The farm was founded in 1965 and it has 50-acre of sunflowers. The festival started on July 18 and ends on August 3 (last day would be changed due to sunflowers' blooming status) and there are a maze, hot air balloon rides, picking your own flower patch, mobile milking class and live music.

  • {quote}Historic Polegreen Church is known as the cradle of religious freedom,{quote} Leslie Luck, shown in this drone photo and Director of Operations of Historic Polegreen Church Foundation, said of the church site on Tuesday, August 16, 2022. Samuel Davies, who inspired a young Patrick Henry, was Virginia's first licensed non-Anglican minister there from 1748 to 1759. The original church structure was burned down during the Civil War, and the current white steel beam structure, designed by Carlton Abbott, was erected at the site. Other than the historical importance and symbolism for religious freedom, the Historic Polegreen Church located in Hanover County, is a popular wedding venue, and was made even more popular since guitarist, singer and songwriter Jason Mraz got married here.

  • Broad Street is coated with red paint as Greater Richmond Transit Company's Pulse bus gets new 2.5-mile bus-only symbol in Richmond, Virginia.
  • Visitors spend time on the views of the valley about 1,000 feet below and mountains beyond at a scenic spot on Rockfish Gap Turnpike near Afton, Virginia.
  • Visitors navigate their way to search hidden goals at The Garden Maze, which is located at a popular tourist attraction, Luray Caverns - the largest caverns in the eastern United States, in Luray, Va. The largest hedges maze in the Mid-Atlantic states is created with over 1500 evergreen hedges and a half-mile pathway on one acre ornamental garden.
  • Visitors look for their pumpkins and other fall decorations at Pumpkinville in Toano, Va. Last 27 years, Pumpkinville has been a popular place for families and friends, who look for a picturesque place with fall activities. {quote}It’s a family own farm and it’s all about kids. On Weekends, we have inflatables up, we got a hayride and a train ride.{quote} says George Crandol, who helps Clint Allen and Berry Allen, owners of Pumkinville. {quote}On the first day we opened we had a couple, where their daughter came up from North Carolina who used to live here. They came because they always came to Pumpkinville every year and when she's seen Pumpkinville is open. She called her dad and she said, 'we gotta go.' He was fishing. He quit fishing and came up here,{quote} Berry Allen said with a laugh.
  • Monument Avenue in Richmond, is decorated with the fall foliage.
  • Sailors rested aboard their small boat at sunset near New Point Comfort Natural Area Preserve in Mathews County, Va. Waiting for sunset at Observation Walkway at New Point Comfort Preserve in Mathews County, I was able to observe my surrounds for a few hours with peeks of turtles and crabs swimming around, some big fishes jumping out of the water and great blue herons flying near me. Mathew, the second smallest county in Virginia, is boarded with Gloucester County and surrounded most part by shoreline with Mobjack Bay, Chesapeake Bay, North River and Piankatank River. Mathews County is one of great day trip destinations from Richmond areas with the charming downtown, beautiful waterfronts, and historical lighthouses. By the way, there are zero traffic lights in the county and according to the Mathews County pocket travel guide, John Lennon and Yoko Ono once owned properties there.
